IPAM

tip
  • IPAM (IP Address Management) refers to the method of managing and allocating IP address resources. With the growth of network size, manual management of IP addresses has become complex and prone to errors. IPAM solves this problem by providing automated and centralized IP address management, ensuring efficient, accurate, and controllable use of IP addresses in the network.
  • To use the IPAM function normally, please go to the Template Market to download the three templates of IPAM subnet, IP address, and scope, and then use Import and export of models to import the three templates into the system.

Overview of IP Resources

Administrator can build subnet trees as needed based on the network address planning. When adding a subnet, users can configure scanning rules, mainly specifying the machines and scanning frequency to perform the scan. The scanning result is the list of online IP addresses under this subnet.

info
  • To use the scanning function, an agent needs to be installed. Please refer to Apply Veops Agent for free
  • Note: Please make sure that nmap is installed on the machine performing the scan, otherwise the IP scan will fail.

As shown in the following figure, the overview contains statistical information for each subnet node, mainly including online statistics for subnets and IP address allocation statistics. The root node of the external subnet tree can also be the scope (directory), and the subnet nodes under different directory nodes can be the same, mainly to solve the problem of IP address duplication among different subsidiaries or public cloud vendors under a group company.

Address Assign

Users can allocate IP addresses through IPAM. After adding a subnet, users can enable automatic scanning, and the scanned result is the online IP address list. Users can manually assign IP addresses in batches, so there are four states for IP addresses based on whether they are assigned or not and whether they are online or not: assigned online, unassigned online, assigned offline, and Unused.

Assign IP address

Click the operation button “Assign” on the right side of the unassigned IP address to open the address assignment pop-up window. Check the "Assignment Status" and fill in the description, purpose, and other information. Click “OK” to complete the address assignment:

Recycling IP addresses

ip_assign

Click the operation button “Recycle” on the right side of the assigned IP address and click “OK” in the confirmation recycle pop-up window to complete the recycle. After recycling, the status of the network segment will change to: unassigned:

Used to view all assigned or online IP lists, users can expand the fields of the IP address model according to the company's network operation and maintenance needs.

Subnet List

Users can view all subnet list information on this page. Similar to IP, the IP subnet model is also the default model in CMDB, and users can edit and view the properties and information of IP subnets.

History Log

Operation Log

History records include operation records and scan records. Users can view all operation history records related to IP subnets and IP address assignments, and support CIDR retrieval.

Scan Log

Records the detailed information of the scan performed by the agent, recording information such as CIDR, number of online IP addresses, scanning time consumed, whether it is successful or not, and scanning results. If the agent fails to scan, you can also view the error message here.
